Sleeve Anchors work under a true expansion principle, whereby the tightening of the nut forces the expansion of an outer sleeve over a tapered portion of the bolt. The sleeve also becomes a factor in a shear load application providing increased strength in addition to the anchor bolt.
SELECTING THE PROPER LENGTH SLEEVE ANCHOR
The selection of the proper length Sleeve Anchor depends upon the thickness of the material to be fastened and the minimum depth of anchor required in masonry for maximum holding power. Add the thickness of the material (A) and the recommended depth for the anchor diameter (B) to determine the correct length of anchor to be used.
Installation is simple…
1. Drill Hole
2. Insert Anchor
3. Tighten Anchor
Drill hole to a depth exceeding minimum embedment using a bit whose diameter is equal to the anchor. Holes should be drilled using a bit conforming to ANSI-B94. 12-77.
Insert Sleeve Anchor into hole so that washer is flush with fixture to be fastened. Tighten nut 2 or 3 turns.
