Grade 5 Hex Nuts

Grade 5 hex nuts are heat-treated medium carbon steel nuts with a proof load of 120,000 psi. They are the matching nut for Grade 5 hex cap screws and are the go-to choice for automotive, equipment and general industrial joints that need more strength than a Grade 2 nut. Ours are zinc plated for corrosion resistance, in both coarse and fine thread.

FAQ

Can I use a Grade 5 nut on a Grade 8 bolt?
It is better to match grades. A nut that is weaker than the bolt can strip before the bolt reaches full clamp load, so use Grade 8 nuts with Grade 8 bolts.

Coarse or fine thread?
Coarse thread (USS) is most common and assembles faster. Fine thread (SAE) gives finer adjustment and holds better against vibration, and is common in automotive work. Match the thread on your bolt.
