Why use left hand threaded rod?
A left hand thread tightens counterclockwise. It is used where rotation would loosen a right hand thread, and for turnbuckle-style assemblies where one end is right hand and the other left hand, so turning the center pulls both ends together.

What nut fits left hand threaded rod?
A left hand nut of the same size and thread. Right hand nuts will not thread on.
