FAQ

What is A2 stainless steel?
A2 is the metric (ISO 3506) name for 304 type stainless steel, the same family as 18-8. It resists rust outdoors, in wet areas and in washdown use. A4 is the 316 type, for salt water and chemicals.

What does M8 x 1.25 mean?
M8 is the thread diameter in millimeters and 1.25 is the thread pitch, the distance in millimeters from one thread to the next. Standard (coarse) pitch is the most common; fine pitch has the threads closer together.

Are metric and inch fasteners interchangeable?
No. Close sizes such as M6 and 1/4" or M10 and 3/8" have different diameters and thread pitches, and they will cross thread. Use metric nuts and washers with metric bolts and screws.

How do I stop stainless threads from galling?
Stainless threads can seize (gall) when tightened fast or dry. Use an anti-seize compound, tighten at a slower speed, and do not over tighten.

FAQ

Stainless steel fasteners provide superior corrosion resistance compared to standard alternatives, making them ideal for marine applications and harsh environments. Different stainless steel grades offer enhanced resistance to corrosion, significantly extending service life. This range of options allows you to select fasteners that resist environmental factors better than conventional materials.

Metric stainless steel fasteners are available in an extensive range of sizes to accommodate various applications. Common diameter options span from small precision fasteners to large structural components. This comprehensive range ensures you can find stainless steel fasteners with superior corrosion resistance for any project requiring specific dimensional requirements and enhanced durability.

Identify the correct stainless steel fasteners by considering diameter requirements, stainless steel grades, and corrosion resistance needs. Marine applications require higher-grade materials with superior corrosion resistance. Use appropriate tools to measure existing fasteners and enhance your selection process by matching the range of specifications to your project's environmental demands.

Yes, stainless steel fasteners maintain their superior corrosion resistance and structural integrity across a wide temperature range. Different stainless steel grades offer varying levels of resistance to extreme conditions. This enhanced performance makes them suitable for marine applications and industrial environments where temperature fluctuations could compromise standard fasteners' corrosion resistance capabilities.
