FAQ

What do the wings do?
The wings ream a hole in the wood that is larger than the threads, so the threads don't grab the wood. When the wings hit the steel they break off, and the threads tap into the steel. That pulls the wood tight against the steel.

What is a self drilling (Tek) screw?
A self drilling screw has a drill bit point, so it drills, taps and fastens in one step with no pilot hole. The point number tells you how thick a metal it can drill: the higher the number, the thicker the metal.
