T Nuts
T Nuts
T nuts, also called tee nuts or prong nuts, give wood and particle board strong, reusable machine threads. The threaded barrel goes into a drilled hole and the prongs on the flange bite into the wood so the nut can't spin. Install from the back side so the bolt pulls the nut into the material. Ours are zinc plated in 3- and 4-prong styles.

How do I install a T nut?
Drill a hole the size of the barrel, tap the T nut in from the back with a hammer until the prongs are flush, then thread the bolt in from the front.
Which barrel length should I choose?
Pick the longest barrel that stays shorter than your material thickness. More barrel means more thread engagement.
