Grade 8 Flange Torque Lock Nuts Fine (SAE)

These are Grade 8 (G) hex flange prevailing torque lock nuts in SAE fine thread. The wide flange works as a built-in washer, and the deformed top threads lock the nut in place without a nylon insert. Fine thread gives more threads per inch for finer adjustment and a better hold against vibration, which is why it is common on vehicle frames, suspensions and drivelines.

FAQ

Can a prevailing torque lock nut be reused?
They can be reused a few times, but the locking grip gets weaker with each use. For critical joints, replace the nut once it spins on easily by hand.

Do I need a separate washer?
No. The flange spreads the load like a washer. Adding one under the flange is not necessary for most applications.
