Hanger Bolts

Zinc plated hanger bolts from 10-24 to 1/2-13 and 1" to 12" long. A hanger bolt has a wood screw thread on one end and a machine thread on the other, so you can hang threaded rod, pipe and equipment from wood. See the specification table below for thread lengths. Choose a size below.

Specifications

  • Ends: wood (lag) screw thread + machine thread
  • Machine thread: 10-24, 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, 1/2-13
  • Lengths: 1" to 12"
  • Finish: zinc plated

Zinc Plated Steel

Hanger Bolts are practically a Wood Screw (Lag) Thread on one end and a Machine Screw (Bolt) Thread on the other.
Designed to hang material from wooden structures. The lag is wrenched into the wood and the assembly is completed after applying a nut.
Used for suspending electrical wiring and sheet metal with the use of Threaded Rod and Rod Coupler Nuts.

FAQ

How do I install a hanger bolt?
Drill a pilot hole in the wood, thread two nuts onto the machine thread and lock them against each other, then drive the bolt with a wrench on the top nut. Remove the nuts and attach your part with a nut. A hanger bolt driver also works.

Do lag screws need a pilot hole?
Yes. Drill a pilot hole for the threaded part about 60 to 70 percent of the screw diameter in softwood, a little larger in hardwood, and a clearance hole the full diameter for the smooth shank.
