1/4-20 Galvanized Carriage Bolts

1/4-20 Galvanized Carriage Bolts

These 1/4"-20 galvanized carriage bolts have a domed head and a square neck that locks into the wood, so you only need a wrench on the nut. They are hot dip galvanized for decks, fences, docks and treated lumber. We stock lengths from 1" to 8". Bolts 6" and shorter are fully threaded, and longer bolts have 6" of thread.

FAQ

What size hole do I drill for a 1/4" carriage bolt?
Drill a 1/4" hole. A snug fit lets the square neck bite into the wood so the bolt doesn't spin.

What if my 1/4" carriage bolt spins when I tighten it?
Tap the head down with a hammer to seat the square neck before tightening. In hardwood or old, dry lumber, a light tap is usually all it needs.
