Grade 2 Hex Nuts - (SAE) Fine Thread

Grade 2 Hex Nuts - (SAE) Fine Thread

These Grade 2 hex nuts have SAE fine thread and a zinc plated finish. They suit light-to-medium duty fine thread bolts and studs in maintenance, equipment and general assembly work. Fine thread allows a bit more adjustment and holds better against vibration than coarse thread. We stock every common size from 1/4"-28 up to 1-1/2"-12, including 1-3/8"-12, and a 204 piece hex nut assortment.

FAQ

When should I use a Grade 5 or Grade 8 nut instead?
Upgrade when the bolt is Grade 5 or Grade 8, or when the joint is under heavy load, high torque or strong vibration.

How do I tell fine from coarse thread on a nut?
Thread a known bolt into it, or use a thread gauge. Fine thread nuts have more, shallower threads, such as 1/2"-20 instead of 1/2"-13.
