Why use stainless deck screws?
Pressure treated lumber eats away zinc coatings, and plain steel leaves black stains in cedar and redwood. Stainless screws won't rust or stain. Use 316 near salt water.
Should I use 18-8 or 316 stainless?
18-8 is fine for most outdoor and wet jobs. 316 stainless adds molybdenum for better resistance to salt water, chlorides and many chemicals, so it is the better choice for boats, docks, pools and coastal sites. Contact us for 316 stainless.
